A huge thank you to Westwood’s creators, the VanillaConquer and OpenTS contributors, Nyerguds, the preservation community and everyone behind the projects below. This port exists because of your work.

Game engine & source
EA published the original engine source under the GPL in CnC Remastered Collection. It was forked and developed into VanillaConquer — The Assembly Armada, the engine used here. Our engine fork.
Experimental Tiberian Sun engine
OpenTS and its SDL3, bgfx, RmlUi, FreeType, Dear ImGui, miniaudio and LZO dependencies. Modified engine and dependency sources accompany the development modules.
Original discs & freeware releases
EA’s original freeware release page (archived) · CNCNZ’s release history and disc downloads: Tiberian Dawn (31 August 2007), Red Alert (31 August 2008), and Tiberian Sun with Firestorm (12 February 2010). TD/RA expansion discs are listed separately there.
More community missions
It's All in the Game 2 disc preservation: additional original missions and skirmish maps, with individual authors credited in the catalog. Duplicate releases, utilities and incomplete scenarios are excluded.
Microboss community missions
Super Fun Levels disc preservation. Thanks to Andrew Griffin, Niall Davidson (Ntd), Patrick 'Soya' Van Der Nat, Russ Beuker, Antti Halonen, Commando, Raven, Richard Heesbeen and Jeroen Ritmeijer. Microboss compiled the disc; the credited community authors created its content. Five solo missions and seven offline skirmish maps load individually on demand.
Console missions
Nyerguds’ C&C collection · PS1 and N64 conversion packs. Original mission files are preserved and loaded on demand.
Restored Red Alert media
Nyerguds’ The Lost Files · Video pack source · Aftermath / PlayStation music pack source. Thanks to the pack authors and maintainers for preserving this material.
Browser engine & rendering
Emscripten · SDL2 · Emscripten OpenAL layer — compilation, input, graphics and audio.
Room QR codes
QR Code Generator by Kazuhiko Arase · MIT license. Generated locally; invite links are never sent to an external QR service.

Command & Conquer, Red Alert and Tiberian Sun are trademarks of Electronic Arts Inc. Commandory is an independent fan project, not affiliated with or endorsed by Electronic Arts or Westwood Studios.

Powered by VanillaConquer and OpenTS, free, open-source engines derived from EA’s GPL engine source, using the original game assets.
EA released the base games as freeware: Tiberian Dawn, 31 August 2007; Red Alert, 31 August 2008; Tiberian Sun & Firestorm, 12 February 2010. Original EA release page (archived) · CNCNZ release history & downloads.

See EA’s Franchise Modding Guidelines. This independent project is free to play. The base games’ original assets are streamed unchanged from EA’s freeware releases.

Commandory uses modified VanillaConquer and, experimentally, OpenTS engines; updated 16 October 2026. Engine copyright and contributor notices are preserved in the source. This is not an original or official EA release.

Commandory’s original contributions are licensed under GNU GPLv3, with no additional restrictions imposed by Commandory. You may use, study, modify and redistribute the covered code, including commercially, under its applicable license. There is no warranty.

The inherited engine retains its upstream GPLv3 license and notices; OpenTS retains its own upstream license and notices. GPLv3 section 7 gives recipients the right to remove non-permissive additional terms outside the categories permitted by section 7(a)–(f). Preserving upstream notices does not waive that right or make an incompatible restriction binding. See the FSF’s explanation of additional restrictions. Licensing details · Modification notice.
